Our History

Swaminarayan Cultural Association Inc has its roots in the early efforts of community members who migrated from India to Pennsylvania in the 1950s, including Mr. Thakorbhai Patel and Mr. Rameshbhai Dhanani. In the mid-1990s, Mr. Thakorbhai began organizing regular community gatherings, and in the late 2010s, Mr. Rameshbhai expanded these efforts in Telford, PA. Over time, these gatherings grew in size and scope, eventually leading to the formation of an official chapter and the organization of larger community events in rented halls.

Community members contributed their time and resources, transporting books, musical instruments, seating, and supplies from home to home to support these events. Through their dedication, the gatherings expanded, attracting hundreds of attendees and fostering a strong sense of cultural connection and learning. In 2015, the association achieved a major milestone by acquiring 11.22 acres of land in Telford, Pennsylvania, establishing a permanent home for its programs and community activities.

In 2019, the association launched a major reconstruction project to create a modern, two-story facility designed to support education, cultural programs, and community engagement. Despite challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and inflationary pressures, the project was successfully completed in 2024, demonstrating the perseverance and resilience of the community.

Over the years, the association has become a central hub for cultural and educational programs. It hosts regular gatherings, language and cultural classes, youth leadership initiatives, and wellness programs for seniors. Annual cultural events, workshops, and celebrations bring together families from across the region, fostering a sense of belonging, learning, and collaboration.

Today, Swaminarayan Cultural Association Inc continues to serve as a vibrant community center, providing state-of-the-art facilities and a welcoming environment for individuals and families of all ages. Its mission is to preserve cultural heritage, promote lifelong learning, and strengthen connections within the community.
